Before I went to high school I was told by older cousins that freshmen year was no joke because if you slack off in your classes it will affect you for the rest of your years at high school. So I took their advice and once I was a freshmen I took the important classes like English 9, algebra 1, physical science, etc. For my electives I took a foreign language class, which was Spanish speakers 1 and intro to art for my fine art class. I would do level 4’s for most of my classes because I wanted a good GPA. The only thing I regret from my freshmen year was that I didn’t join any clubs or activities until I was a sophomore. I joined FBLA and Color Guard Club.
As a sophomore I knew that the CAHSEE was a big thing. I knew you have to pass it in order to graduate, if not then you just get a certificate saying you just went to high school; that made me really nervous. Some people said it was easy, others said it was hard. That year in my english and math class we would take practice tests every period similar to the CAHSEE. The practice tests were actually not that bad. I would only miss a few, so that made me feel better about the real test coming up. A day before the real test I studied some of the questions on the practice tests and in the morning I made sure I had a healthy breakfast. I felt prepared for this test; I knew I can do it. After testing days were over I was anxious to know my score, but I had to wait about 3 weeks. Finally, three weeks passed and I our english teachers were going to tell us if we passed or not. As I waited for my teacher to call me up, I was so nervous to know what I scored on each test. Once my teacher showed me my score, I was shocked. I passed both of my test and the best part was that I scored over 350 on the math part and on the english I had barely passed. That made me and my parents extremely happy because I scored over the usual score and also because I was going to get money from the REAP program.
I got to junior year and I was very happy with my schedule. I got all the classes i needed and the best teachers also. Although all my classes were very good choices, my favorite ones were Careers and Education 1 and Accounting 1. I really liked my Careers and Education class because it taught me how to be organize a classroom and make lesson plans. Also, I loved working with kids. I enjoyed helping them learn new things and playing with them as well. However, I enjoy working with numbers and solving formulas in Accounting. I would also challenge myself on doing level 4’s and projects that had to do with having your own business. I loved those kind of projects because I learned from them and they started to make me think of having my own business one day.
