Now that graduation is around the corner I feel a little nervous but at the same time very excited. I feel a little nervous just knowing I have to be responsible for myself now that I will considered a young adult. However I am awfully excited to start going to college and start working on what I want to major in, which is Liberal studies. Before all of that, I just can’t wait to see the look of my parents faces at our graduation ceremony. They are going to be highly proud of me since I will be the first to go to college in my family.
So far, I have chose my classes to go to a community college. Now, I just have to wait for registration day to come up. Once I register for my classes I will start college in fall. Throughout summer vacation my goal is to get my driver's license and buy a car of my own. That way, I can drive myself to school and work if I get a part time job. The kind of jobs I would be interested in working for is at a bank as a bank teller, afterschool teacher, or maybe at a grocery store as a cashier. The reason why I am interested in working with handling money is because I am also interested in business since I took accounting classes; one of my favorite classes that got get really involved into the business world.
However, before graduation arrives I still need to complete my senior project, senior exit interview and community hours. I am working extremely hard on making my project the best ones yet. Also, I’m putting a lot of effort on getting a passing score on my exit interview. I am a little nervous, but it shouldn’t be that bad. In about a week or so I will be meeting with my counselor to talk about my community hours. She will help me get into the elementary site to get my community hours done by helping kids with their homework after school. I am really looking forward on working with these kids. This is a wonderful experience that will help me in the future because I will have a little more practice talking over a class of children and seeing in what ways they learn.
One of the things I am most grateful for is being a cardinal and being in such a beautiful new campus. I really feel safe and comfortable here at Lindsay High School because I have had excellent teachers that really pushed me and motivated me to do better than I thought I can. Also, there are great students that talk to me very well and I know I can count on them anytime. Looking back to senior year has made me kind of upset just realizing my high school days are over. Being a teenager isn’t always about having fun, however learning new life lessons and making new friends.
